...It has been said that an architect naturally designs houses larger and more elaborate than his client actually needs! And who can blame him! But why doesn't he extend his building into the garden, instead of having a great big box of a house?

So much money is spent on the house, and then it often is left without any connecting link with the land.

I would like to see them persuading their clients to build supports for flowering climbers, and vine shaded court-yards, cloisters and pergolas.
