Eric Hammond shared a mutual respect with Walling. She entrusted most of her landscape work to him and called him Mr. Hammond.
Eric Hammond:
began his landscaping business in 1922 and went on to employ around 50 full-time staff,
carried out the re-turfing of the MCG before and after the 1956 Olympics,
worked on most Walling gardens from 1926, including Mawarra, and
was a Foundation Associate of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects and the Landscape Contractors' Association of Victoria.
