Mervyn Davis was a landscape designer, and a friend and colleague to Walling. She:
was a member of the Women's Australian Airforce 1945;
was a student at Burnley Horticultural College and graduated from the Commonwealth Reconstruction Training Scheme as the top student of her class;
was awarded a Diploma in Landscape Architecture from Durham University, U.K.;
set up the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects;
was made an M.B.E. [Member of the British Empire];
was landscape designer for airports at Melbourne, Perth, Launceston and Canberra;
used a mixture of natives and exotics in her work;
worked as technical officer for the Department of Housing and Construction in Australia and Papua New Guinea;
worked with Ellis Stones;
co-authored "Australian Plants - Collectors and Delineators"; and
was partner to Daphne Pearson.
