I've just returned from Phillip Island (Victoria) and the thing that struck me most down there - at least, the thing most vital to us all - was the rye grass growing right down to the very water's edge, thereby stabilising the sand wonderfully and providing good fodder as well. And strangely enough, I've just opened a copy of the "Christian Science Monitor", in the magazine section of which appears an article upon stabilising shifting sands.
