"There is that adorable little shrublet Baeckia plicata (synonymous with Micromyrtus microphylla) with its tiny pink and white flowers. It is at its best in the rock garden - never did a little plant grace an outcrop of stone more delightfully. The foliage has a bronze tinge that is an excellent complement to the pink-tinged flowers."

"One literally leaps upon any low-growing shrub that is at all attractive and hardy, for there seem to be a dearth of hardy shrubs that do not exceed three feet in height. I suppose that one of the sweetest of all dwarf shrubs is Baeckia plicata, a little native plant with pink and white flowers in spring. It is such a lovable little fellow that I like to grow it in a pot, so that it can be moved around as a companion."
