...the little pear tree will suddenly wave about gently as a fat yellow-breasted robin lands on one of its branches and peers in at my bed to see if there is anyone in it. "Yes, I'm still here, I admit, but I am working." Then more vigourous waving of branches announces the arrival of an English thrush or Black bird or both. "And what about a handful of rolled oats" they yell. "Oh alright, alright," I say, leaping out of bed.
