Bendles, Buderim.

Thanks Daphne for dealing with Mrs Blyth (still don't know who she is)...

...It positively staggers me what you girls [Mervyn Davis and Daphne Pearson] have to do and makes me feel awfuly ancient and feeble. It takes precious little gardening to make me inordinately tired so it's a good thing I have only what one friend called a 'poke in' garden, [...]

Do you know Daphne I've come to the momentous conclusion that it would be better for me to give up garden design once and for all, except for an occasional love job: it matters too much to me when I get what seems a pretty good idea and they (the owners) are against it: also when wives are for it and husbands against it. I am reminded of the remark of one young friend when "Gardens in Australia" first appeared "That'll mean a drama or two!"

Apart from being too old I need Mr Hammond up here, and that would never be worth his while, for the people are more interested in Hibiscus and Azaleas and [...] than stone walls!

...I'd love to save one little bit [of the sea] and create a village there especially as Dave who fixed Bendles for me is such a rare builder.

Your 470 signatures in support of saving the Bold [...] Garden winded me!

It seems to me a bad sad world - or rather era, with so much disregard of beauty rampant.

Much much love,

Edna.
