If we start off with a well designed garden, or one that is shall we say, architecturally well designed, it really doesn't matter whether the plants are native or exotic, so long as in the situation they look pleasing. In fact to tell the truth, I wish I had known more about Australian plants when I started out on my career of garden designing. This would have enlarged my choice of plant material, and also [I would have] been less inclined to give my gardens rather an English flavour.
