Dear Daphne,

The first thought that stuck me this morning was "They must buy that block of Rosa's before someone else gets hold of it". I've been living in fear and trembling that a cream-brick veneer would one day loom up there after they'd cut down all the tea trees and gums! Anyway the address of the owner is [...] and I think you might find she asked 1,000 pounds for it.

When you bring your mother up next time you must go and see Miss Fielden in her grey weather board house, which by the way hasn't been painted again since it was built! So there is really no good excuse for brick veeners [sic] - never can spell that word!

[...] I heard that Mrs Jackson was thinking of putting her house on the market, that's the two storied house immediately opposite Rosa's block.

If you are in the [...] do come in here for a cup of tea or a sherry won't you?

Yours [...] Edna Walling
