Loosely fork the soil beneath the spread of branches and over it lay a mulch of this mixture: four inches of leaf mould, or peat, one bucket of rotted manure or three handfuls of hop manure. Finish by giving each bush two gallons of water through the mulch. The annual mulching of rhododendrons is very essential to the success of these beautiful evergreens."
